Whole-home & outdoor Wi-Fi

Existing wiring. A complete home network.

Santa Fe, Texas

Turning a home's existing cabling into an organized network for the living areas, garage and pool space.

Completed wall-mounted network rack with patch panel, UniFi equipment and UPS in the Santa Fe home
The completed network rack brings cabling, routing, switching and backup power together.

The starting point

The home already had network cabling inside the walls, but it needed a system designed around how the homeowner used the property. The wiring was a starting point; equipment placement, termination and configuration would bring it together.

What we changed

  1. Placed three UniFi access points to serve the main living area, garage and outdoor/pool space.

  2. Installed a wall-mounted rack and patch panel to organize the existing cable connections.

  3. Built the network around a UniFi Dream Machine and a 24-port PoE switch supporting access points and cameras.

  4. Added a UPS for power protection and backup.

The result

The existing cabling became part of a centrally managed home network with indoor and outdoor coverage, organized equipment and room for future additions.

For homeowners planning a similar project

A prewired home still needs a network plan. Thoughtful access-point placement and a well-organized equipment location help turn cable in the walls into useful connections.
